Embryonyx helps client secure short listing for prestigious business awards
Embryonyx client, MediTek has been shortlisted for two of the North East region's most prestigious business awards.
Manufacturing and Company of the year.
Embryonyx, Managing Director Angus Long said of the short listing.
"MediTek is well renowned for its product excellence and getting shortlisted for manufacturing excellence is a great acknowledgement of that. In pure marketing terms, consumers are accustomed to companies promotional material telling them how good their products are, but a third party "endorsement" such as this award, carries much more credence add weight to claims of "well made and reliable" "
And of being nominated as Company of the Year.
"There are few business accolades higher than to be crowned as the regions Company of the Year. Having worked with the company for some time, I believe MediTek is worthy of the title and will be there to cheer them on the night. "
The winners of these and all the other awards will be revealed at a glittering ceremony to be held at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on the 24th March.

Embryonyx Helps Clients Trade Show Gamble Pays Off.
Exhibiting at trade shows is a great way to meet face-to-face with a large number of prospects and clients, particularly when breaking into new markets. It is also a great medium to promote ones brand and stand out from the crowd.
One Client Company that did just that at this year's Spring Medtrade show in Las Vegas on the 12-13 May 2010 was global stairlift manufacturer MediTek.
Although not as big as the autumn show in Atlanta, the Vegas event is still valuable for attracting interest and business in the key western states, particularly California.
The Sands Expo, Las Vegas is perhaps one of the more alluring venues for a trade convention and the event this year attracted around 5,000 visitors to see some 300 different exhibitors displaying their various products and services.
Embryonyx helped the company with its promotional launch into the United States, as Director Angus Long explains.
"These days it is not enough to merely turn up and take a booth at Medtrade Vegas. With so much happening over the two days and the continuous hypnotic lure of the bright lights and casinos, exhibitors need to keep upping their game to attract interest and entice visitors to their booths. We decided, therefore, to do this by creating the world's first stairlift slot machine and giving it pride of place on the stand...
...We weren't sure how the public would react to such a thing, but I'm pleased to report it was a resounding success. It brought in the crowds and as word spread it became one of the more talked about elements of the show. It epitomised what is so attractive about Las Vegas - overt, unique and entertaining...
...Overall, the show was a success for MediTek in every respect; they attracted a lot of interest, raised their profile and more importantly, recruited some excellent dealers for their stairlift products. "
MediTek have booked their stand for Medtrade Atlanta later in the year and Embryonyx is delighted to be assisting them again and it is probably fair to say that the world's only Stairlift Slot Machine will be making another appearance.

Embryonyx helps to secure Top Environmental Award for Client Platinum Stairlifts
Embryonyx, The Newcastle based commercial consultancy, helped secure a prestigious Environmental Award for its Yorkshire based client - Platinum Stairlifts.
By entering Platinum, and overseeing their application, for the 2009 Green Apple Awards and subsequently securing the prestigious gold award, earned the client company some extremely valuable PR.
Platinum won The National Green Apple Gold Award in the category of Waste Management and Manufacturing. Managing Director Tim Frear and Sales Director Rod Blacka were presented with the award by environmental campaigner and former Bond Girl, Alexandra Bastedo at a reception at the House of Commons on the 17 November 2009.
Competition for a Green Apple Gold is extremely high and 2009 was no exception, with well-known supermarket chains, industrial giants and multi-million pound utilities all among the contenders. The presiding judge described the accomplishment as very well deserved
when announcing Platinum had achieved the Gold.
The award recognises the company's pioneering Approved Used Stairlift Scheme. This revolutionary recycling process gives Platinum the ability to offer consumers an alternative to buying new. It also allows Local Authorities to, quickly and cost effectively, re-use and re-locate a greater proportion of their Stairlift stocks. This significantly increases the number of patients receiving their life enhancing equipment and can reduce waiting lists without impacting greatly on budgets.
The company was also singled out for its dedication to sourcing many materials from local suppliers, and its commitment to basing its manufacturing operations in the UK rather than overseas.
Platinum stairlifts is located in Keighley, West Yorkshire, employs 40 people and specialises in the manufacture and supply of curved rail Stairlifts.
Managing Director Tim Frear added: This is a great achievement for us, as manufacturing in the UK is becoming increasingly difficult. We would like to thank the judges for considering Platinum worthy of this prestigious award and for Embryonyx for helping to present our justification so effectively
Embryonyx managing Director Angus Long said.
"Today, more and more, the environmental credentials of company's are increasingly being scrutinised and often playing a key role in consumers buying habits. By securing a Green Apple Gold, Platinum has acquired a meaningful and respected accreditation, which will be of great value to their promotional activity and public relations activity over the coming years".
Top winners of the Green Apple awards go on to have the chance of representing their country at an international event in Brussels next year.
The Green Organisation is an independent, non-profit environmental group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

Exhibition Success for MediTek & Platinum
Despite the recession, talk of retail doom and fears of public sector cut-backs Naidex 2009 proved to be the most successful this century for Stairlift manufacturers MediTek and Platinum Rails.
Managing Director, Phil Rice said. MediTek have been exhibiting at Naidex since 2001 with mixed results over the years. This year, I was determined to make a real success of what is undoubtedly the UKs premier mobility and homecare exhibition. We decided to invest in a new marketing strategy and commissioned Embryonyx, which among other things provided a re-branding of our promotional mediums and materials. And I can honestly say it appears to have worked, because not only were the visitors to the stand at an all time record, but the quality of enquiries and the discussions taking place seemed better too...
...The sales team were also fired up and eager to make the most of the exhibition and their confidence and enthusiasm certainly helped make visitor's welcome. So much so, the company managed sell 15 stairlifts to various private buyers during the show.
Platinum Stairlifts Technical Director Steve Grey said. It was a master stroke to attend Naidex with MediTek. The market has taken to our new product my storm and the new brochures and marketing material has certainly ensured we are now playing in the 'premier league' and I can honestly say - in my view the established names should be worried.
Embryonyx Director Angus Long explained:
"Some of the success can be attributed to the investment in new promotional material, show-stand graphics, a competition and a pre show advertising and PR campaign etc. However, I believe the real success was down to the fact that together the companies had prepared clear strategic aims and they were simply focused on achieving them. All company staff, be they in sales, administration or operations now have a greater understand of the industry, marketplace and their roles in helping the company reach its goals and support differentiating the company from the competition...
...One specific thing we wanted to achieve from the exhibition was a clear understanding of what everyone involved in the industry, be they healthcare professionals, council administrators, retailers or private buyers considers the most important aspect when seeking products and suppliers. It is pleasing to report that hundreds people took the time to take part in this market research, albeit with the lure of a Deluxe Harrods hamper, the results of which we will be revealing shortly, however I can say it did reveal some surprising results...
...MediTek and Platinum have proved that success at trade shows, such as Naidex, can be achieved without the need to spend huge amounts of money on large expensive and eye-catching stands. A well executed campaign, backed up with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team can often prove to be more effective than visual flamboyance alone"

Embryonyx helps Client Company MediTek become recognised for 'outstanding achievement' in the 'North East Business of the Year Awards' 2009.
The Export Award, sponsored by UK Trade & Investment, recognises companies that have generated substantial and sustained increases in export activity. Judges selected a short list of companies, and evaluated their export achievements, with particular consideration to the level of exports in relation to the size of the company, products or services that have been sold without the benefit of export credits, the barriers that have had to be overcome and the degree to which products are new and markets non-traditional.
Embryonyx researched, prepared and submitted their application and were delighted when MediTek were nominated finalists and were praised for their huge export achievements.
Managing Director Phil Rice told THIIS; With around 1,300 entrants, including some well known blue-chip companies, we are delighted with being voted runner-up. It has been a real achievement and is a testament to all the hard work, dedication, professionalism and quality of the employees and our products. We only started to seriously consider targeting overseas markets around 2005, and over the years sales have grown from strength to strength. This year our forecast is set to see exports hit 30% of sales in over 22 countries.
Apparently, the judges were particularly impressed by how the company used a market research strategy to select and target those countries and markets their product offering and operational structure could best succeed in. Also on how they managed to prosper against strong indigenous competition, and rivals with far larger marketing budgets.
